Environmental Litigation
Environmental litigation involves legal disputes related to environmental harm, such as contamination of land or personal injuries from substances like asbestos or mold. Howard, recognized as a specialist in environmental law, has extensive experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in these cases. His expertise spans not only environmental liability but also insurance coverage aspects, having acted for and against insurers. With deep knowledge of civil liability and having co-authored a key text on the subject, Howard brings a wealth of experience to complex environmental claims.
The Law Society of Ontario has recognized Howard as a specialist in environmental law. He has co-authored a seminal text on the subject, “Civil Liability for Environmental Harm” and has acted for both the defence and plaintiff side on claims involving contaminated properties and on claims involving personal injury such as asbestos or mould. In the past he has acted as Counsel to the Environmental Compensation Corporation. Howard also has experience in the insurance coverage aspects of this complex area of law. He has acted for and against insurers on those coverage claims and brings a great deal of experience to this aspect of his practice.
